غَلبَتكَ نَفسَكَ غَيرَ مُتَّعِظَه

غَلبَتكَ نَفسَكَ غَيرَ مُتَّعِظَه

نَفسٌ مُقَرَّعَةٌ بِكُلِّ عِظَه

نَفسٌ مُقَرَّعَةٌ بِكُلِّ عِظَه

Your soul has overcome you, taking no heed:

You let your self be overcome, heedless of advice,

A soul rebuked by every admonition,

A self made callous by every admonition.

نَفسٌ مُصَرَّفَةٌ مُدَبَّرَةٌ

نَفسٌ مُصَرَّفَةٌ مُدَبَّرَةٌ

مَطلوبَةٌ في النَومِ وَاليَقَظَه

مَطلوبَةٌ في النَومِ وَاليَقَظَه

A soul directed and governed,

A self well-managed and well-arranged,

Pursued in sleep and wakefulness;

Sought after in sleep and in wakefulness.

نَفسٌ سَتَعبِطُها وَساوِسُها

نَفسٌ سَتَعبِطُها وَساوِسُها

إِن لَم تَكُن مِنهُنَّ مُنحَفِظَه

إِن لَم تَكُن مِنهُنَّ مُنحَفِظَه

A soul whose whisperings will cut it down,

A self that will become confused and tempted

If it is not on guard against them.

If it is not preserved from them.

فَاللَهُ حَسبُكَ لا سِواهُ وَمَن

فَاللَهُ حَسبُكَ لا سِواهُ وَمَن

راعى الرُعاةَ وَحافَظَ الحَفَظَه

راعى الرُعاةَ وَحافَظَ الحَفَظَه

So God suffices you, none but Him—and who

So God suffices you; there is no god but Him.

Has watched over the shepherds and guarded the guardians?

He who shepherds the shepherds and preserves what is to be preserved.
