أَحسَنتَyou made favorable ظَنَّكَyour opinion بِالأَيّامِof the days إِذwhen حَسُنَتthey were kind

وَلَم تَخَف سوءَ ما يَأتي بِهِ القَدَرُ
You thought well of the days when they were kind,
You thought well of the days when they went well,
And did not fear the harm that fate would bring.
And did not fear the evil that destiny might bring.
وَسالَمَتكَand made peace with you اللَياليthe nights فَاِغتَرَرتَso you were beguiled بِهاby them
وَسالَمَتكَ اللَيالي فَاِغتَرَرتَ بِها
وَعِندَand amid صَفوِthe serenity of اللَياليthe nights يَحدُثُarises الكَدَرُturmoil
وَعِندَ صَفوِ اللَيالي يَحدُثُ الكَدَرُ
And the nights made peace with you, so you were beguiled by them;
The peace of the nights deceived you,
And amid the nights’ serenity, turmoil arises.
And in the serenity of the nights sorrow arises.
