مَنwho صَدَقَwas true in الحُبَّlove لِأَحبابِهِto his beloveds
مَن صَدَقَ الحُبَّ لِأَحبابِهِ
فَإِنَّfor indeed حُبَّlove ابنِson of عُزَيزٍUzayz غُرورdeception
فَإِنَّ حُبَّ ابنِ عُزَيزٍ غُرور
Who has been true in love to his beloveds?
He who is true in his love for his loved ones
For Ibn Uzayz’s love is indeed deception.
The love of Ibn Uzayz is but illusion
أَنساهُmade him forget عَبّادَةَAbbada ذاتَpossessing الهَوىpassion
أَنساهُ عَبّادَةَ ذاتَ الهَوى
وَأَذهَبَand drove away الحُبَّthe love الَّذيthat فيin الضَميرthe heart
وَأَذهَبَ الحُبَّ الَّذي في الضَمير
What made him forget Abbada, the passionate one,
It made him forget the worship of his passionate love
And drove the love out of his heart,
And took away the love that was in his conscience

Was fifty thousand, all outweighing her
Fifty thousand, all of them weighty
In beauty; in every purse they clink.
With the tinkling of coins, beauty is hers in every purse
