سُقِيَتmay be watered قُبورُthe graves الصالِحينَthe righteous دِيَمsteady rains
What is it that the righteous attain?
What do the righteous gain
May the graves of the righteous be watered by steady rains.
The graves of the righteous are eternally watered
صَلّىmay bless الإِلَهُGod عَلىupon النَبِيِّthe Prophet لَقَدindeed
مُحِيَتwere erased عُهودٌpledges بَعدَهُafter him وَذِمَمand covenants
May God bless the Prophet; indeed,
God bless the Prophet, covenants after him
Pledges and covenants were erased after him.
Have been erased and annulled
لَولاwere it not for بَقاياthe remaining ones الصالِحينَthe righteous عَفاwould have been effaced
ماwhat كانَhad أَثبَتَهُhe established it لَناfor us وَرَسَمand marked out
Were it not for the righteous who remain, it would have been effaced—
If not for the remnants of the righteous that remain
What he had established for us and marked out.
Nothing of his would have lasted and taken form
سُبحانَglory be to مَنthe One who سَبَقَتcame first مَشيئَتُهُHis will

Glory be to Him whose will came first,
Glory to Him whose will preceded
And who decreed that for Himself and ruled.
And so decreed for Himself and judged
