The poor man was diverted from those ordeals.

He parted with his soul and became bereft of a body.

And indeed I was charged with a strange task:

I seek cheer from the house of sorrow.

The poor man grew too weak for those ordeals,

Through the death of his soul and body.

And indeed he was charged with something strange.

He added to the calamity and endured the ordeals in full.

It was said, “Cheer us,” yet joy refuses

To come to me from the house of sorrow.
