The carefree man slept, for he is detached

from one whose eye sorrow keeps awake.

Nothing is pleasing to one mindful of the

    days—neither play nor diversion.

When he indulged excessively in his delight,

a part of his body would die.

And when gray hair strikes with its frailty,

strength ebbs, and the steps grow shorter.

And when time changes for its people,

motes abound, and clarity grows clouded.

Glory be to Him who is disobeyed through His blessings,

and from Him come bounty and pardon.
