خَيرُ سَبيلِ المالِ تَفريقُهُ

خَيرُ سَبيلِ المالِ تَفريقُهُ

في طاعَةِ اللَهِ وَتَمزيقُهُ

في طاعَةِ اللَهِ وَتَمزيقُهُ

The best use of wealth is to distribute it,

The best way to spend money is to give it

in obedience to God, and break it up.

In obedience to Allah, tearing it apart

وَالدَهرُ لايَبقى عَلى أَهلِهِ

وَالدَهرُ لايَبقى عَلى أَهلِهِ

تَغريبُهُ طَوراً وَتَشريقُهُ

تَغريبُهُ طَوراً وَتَشريقُهُ

And time does not endure for its people—

And time does not stay with its people

its westward course at times, and its eastward course.

Exiling it for a while, then making it rise at dawn

وَقَد أَرى العَقلَ إِذا ما صَفا

وَقَد أَرى العَقلَ إِذا ما صَفا

قَلَّت مِنَ الدُنيا مَعاليقُهُ

قَلَّت مِنَ الدُنيا مَعاليقُهُ

And I see that when the mind grows clear,

And I see that when reason is pure

its ties to the world grow few.

Cares for the world are few

ما كُلُّ مَن بَرَّقَ تَأديبُهُ

ما كُلُّ مَن بَرَّقَ تَأديبُهُ

يَغُرُّني ما عِشتُ تَبريقُهُ

يَغُرُّني ما عِشتُ تَبريقُهُ

Not everyone whose refinement glitters

Not everyone whose education shines

can fool me with his glitter, as long as I live.

Impresses me whatever its polish

مَن حَقَّقَ الإيمانَ في قَلبِهِ

مَن حَقَّقَ الإيمانَ في قَلبِهِ

أَوشَكَ أَن يَظهَرَ تَحقيقُهُ

أَوشَكَ أَن يَظهَرَ تَحقيقُهُ

Whoever truly establishes faith in his heart,

Whoever makes faith real in their heart

the truth of his faith will soon become apparent.

Will soon manifest its truth
