    Say, you two, to whoever hopes for life: is there not

    a lesson in Ja'far and his Yahya?

    They were the two viziers of God's caliph, Ha-

    run—they were not his two sons.

    So there is Ja'far, in his entirety:

    on a lofty height—his head and his two halves.

    And the elder Yahya, the vizier—the caliph has now

    removed him from his presence and banished him.

    فَأَصبَحوا في البِلادِ قَد تاهوا

    Their company was scattered after being gathered together;

    so they came to wander lost through the lands.

    Thus, whoever angers God with what

    he uses to please a servant—God will requite him.

    أَشهَدُ أَن لا إِلَهَ إِلّاهُ

    Glory to Him to whom kings have submitted;

    I bear witness that there is no god but Him.

    Blessed is whoever repents after his heedlessness,

    repenting before death—blessed is he!
