عادَreturned ليto me مِنfrom ذِكرِهاremembering her نَصَبٌweariness
عادَ لي مِن ذِكرِها نَصَبٌ
فَدُموعُso the tears العَينِof the eye تَنسَكِبُpour forth
فَدُموعُ العَينِ تَنسَكِبُ
Remembering her has brought weariness back to me;
The memory of her has brought me grief,
so the eye’s tears pour forth.
And so tears fall from my eyes like a stream.
وَكَذاكَand likewise الحُبُّlove صاحِبُهُits bearer

يَعتَريهِ الهَمُّ وَالوَصَبُ
And such is love: its bearer
Such is love - it brings its companion
is beset by worry and pain.
Sorrow and melancholy it would seem.

مَلِكٌ دانَت لَهُ العَرَبُ
The best of those looked to with hope and those who give
The best one to hope for, the most generous,
is a king to whom the Arabs have submitted.
Is a king whom all Arabs obey.
وَحَقيقٌand worthy أَنthat يُدانَobedience be rendered لَهُto him

And worthy of being obeyed is
And it's right that he be obeyed
he whose father is a father to the Prophet.
One whose father was the Prophet's uncle.
