Peace upon the dwellers of the weatherworn graves,

As though they had never sat in gatherings,

Nor found delight in cool water,

Nor eaten anything, moist or dry,

Nor had any among them been a rival in life,

With far-reaching hopes in it and many misgivings.

You have indeed come to the utmost of death and decay,

And within it, some of you hope and some despair.

If the one vying truly knew the truth about what

You left him of this world, he would not compete.
