Patiently turn away from the world, and leave every lost wanderer

who obeys a passion that plunges him into trackless wastes.

Leave people and the world: some contend ravenously

for it with fangs, while others contend with words.

And whoever does not hold himself to account in his affairs

falls into a grave, perplexing, ambiguous predicament.

And the virtuous have succeeded only through their patient restraint

from desires and their endurance of hardships.
