Indeed, I came to you to offer greet—
I came to you seeking peace

Foolishly on my part
فَصَدَدتَso you turned away عَنّيfrom me نَخوَةًout of pride
فَصَدَدتَ عَنّي نَخوَةً

وَتَجَبُّراً وَلَوَيتَ شِدقا
But you turned away from me in pride
You turned from me disdainfully

فَلَوso if أَنَّthat رِزقيmy sustenance فيin يَدَيtwo hands
فَلَو أَنَّ رِزقي في يَدَي
كَyour لَماwould not طَلَبتُI sought الدَهرَthroughout life رِزقاsustenance
كَ لَما طَلَبتُ الدَهرَ رِزقا
So if my sustenance lay in those two hands
If my sustenance was in your hands
of yours, I would never seek sustenance all my life.
I would not have sought it from this life
