أَراكَI see you تُراعُyou are frightened حينَwhen تَرىyou see خَياليmy form
فَماso what هَذاthis يَروعُكَfrightens you مِنabout خَياليmy form
I see you frightened when you see my form.
I see you startled when you see my phantom
What is it, then, about my form that frightens you?
So what is it that startles you about my phantom
لَعَلَّكَperhaps you خائِفٌafraid مِنّيfrom me سُؤاليmy request
أَلاtake heed فَلَكَthen for you الأَمانِsafety مِنَfrom السُؤالِbeing asked
Perhaps you fear a request from me.
Perhaps you're afraid I'll question you
Rest assured: you are safe from my asking.
But no, you are safe from questioning
كَفَيتُكَI have spared you إِنَّindeed حالَكَyour condition لَمdid not تَمِلsway بيme
لِأَطلُبَto seek مِثلَهاits like بَدَلاًas a replacement بِحاليfor my condition
I have spared you; indeed, your condition has not tempted me
I'm done with you, your state does not please me
To seek its like in place of my own.
To seek another like it to replace my state
وَإِنَّand indeed اليُسرَease مِثلُlike العُسرِhardship عِنديto me
بِأَيُّهِماwith whichever of the two مُنيتُI am afflicted فَلاthen not أُباليI care
And ease is like hardship to me;
Ease and hardship are the same to me
Whichever of the two befalls me, I do not care.
With either I'm fated, I do not care
