عَجَباًhow astonishing! عَجِبتُI marveled لِغَفلَةِat the heedlessness of الباقيناthose who remain
عَجَباً عَجِبتُ لِغَفلَةِ الباقينا
إِذfor لَيسَnot يَعتَبِرونَthey take heed بِالماضيناfrom those who have passed away
إِذ لَيسَ يَعتَبِرونَ بِالماضينا
How astonishing! I marvel at the heedlessness of those who remain,
I'm amazed at the heedlessness of those remaining
for they take no lesson from those who have passed away.
As they don't learn from what has passed.
ماnot زِلتَyou have ceased وَيحَكَalas for you ياO اِبنَson of آدَمَAdam دائِباًtoiling tirelessly
ما زِلتَ وَيحَكَ يا اِبنَ آدَمَ دائِباً
فيin هَدمِtearing down عُمرِكَyour life مِنذُsince كُنتَyou were جَنيناa fetus
في هَدمِ عُمرِكَ مِنذُ كُنتَ جَنينا
You have kept laboring tirelessly, alas for you, O son of Adam,
Alas, O son of Adam! You have always
at tearing down your life since you were a fetus.
Been busy destroying your life since you were a fetus.
