Her gaze, though turned away, has an effect like its impact
Her gaze, though aimed away, strikes my heart
on the heart, when its impact startles the heart.
As an arrow strikes where it's shot, to hurt.
تصدshe turns away بالطرفwith the gaze لاnot كالسهمlike an arrow تصرفهshe turns it aside
تصد بالطرف لا كالسهم تصرفه
عنيfrom me ولكنهbut it كالسهمlike an arrow تنزعُهُshe pulls it out
عني ولكنه كالسهم تنزعُهُ
She averts her gaze—not like an arrow she turns aside
My eyes meet hers not by direct attack
from me, but like an arrow she pulls out.
But still pierce my heart, like an arrow's impact.
ونزعهاand her pulling out السهمthe arrow منfrom قلبيmy heart كموقعهlike its impact
ونزعها السهم من قلبي كموقعه
فيهin it وكلand every أليمpainful المسthe touch موجِعُهُcausing it pain
فيه وكل أليم المس موجِعُهُ
And her pulling the arrow from my heart is like its impact
That arrow's been pulled from my heart yet the ache
within it; and whatever is painful to the touch causes it pain.
Remains, for pain's caused just by the wound's take.
