God bless those with branching minds!

They have all taken to talking nonsense.

And indeed, by the Lord of the two mosques, both of them,

And indeed, by the Lord of Mina and the Lord of the swift-stepping camels,

And indeed, by the Lord of the House with its curtains, and of

the ritual running-place, Zamzam, and the marked sacrificial offerings,

Indeed, that for which the world was created, and all

within it, is surely a calamity beyond description.

    فَجَميعُ ما هُوَ كائِنٌ لا بُدَّ آتِ

    So let the discerning man take thought for himself;

For all that is to be must inevitably come.

    ما أَقرَبَ المَحيا الطَويلِ مِنَ المَماتِ

    Live as long as you wish to live in bliss;

How close a long life is to death!

So turn away from the abode of delusion and from its

enticements, and be watchful for calamities.

Where are the kings, masters of pulpits and

    estates, armies, and towering palaces,

and diversions—who has them now?—and those going out at dawn

and returning at evening, among the fine steeds poised at rest?

They lie between layers of earth; so call to them:

O inhabitants of empty, desolate dwellings!

Is there anyone among you who can tell where lies

the resting place of the spirits of the decaying bones?

For the visiting women lingered only briefly after you,

and the weeping women's eyes shed only a few tears.

And time, amid its calamities, does not spare

the solid, firmly rooted, towering mountains.

Whoever fears God becomes a mercy

to believing men, and a mercy to believing women.

And if you desire a treasure that endures, then

vie in storing up lasting righteous deeds.

And fear the Resurrection as much as you can, for indeed

the Day of Resurrection is the day when hidden things are laid bare.
