سُبحانَGlory be to مَنHim who لَمnot تَزَلcease لَهُfor Him حُجَجٌproofs
سُبحانَ مَن لَم تَزَل لَهُ حُجَجٌ
قامَتstood established عَلىagainst خَلقِهِHis creation بِمَعرِفَتِهthrough knowledge of Him
قامَت عَلى خَلقِهِ بِمَعرِفَتِه
Glory be to Him whose proofs have always endured,
Glory be to Him whose proofs
Standing before His creation, making Him known.
Have stood over His creation through knowing Him.
قَدindeed عَلِمواthey have known أَنَّهُthat He الإِلَهُGod وَلَbut (first part)
قَد عَلِموا أَنَّهُ الإِلَهُ وَلَ
كِنcompletion of 'but' عَجِزَwere unable العالِمونَthe learned عَنto; concerning صِفَتِهHis description
كِن عَجِزَ العالِمونَ عَن صِفَتِه
They have known that He is God, but
They knew that He is God, except
The learned are powerless to describe Him.
The scholars were incapable of describing Him.
