المَوتُ بابٌ وَكُلُّ الناسِ داخِلُهُ
فَلَيتَso, if only شِعرِيَmy knowledge بَعدَbeyond البابِthe door ماwhat الدارُthe abode
فَلَيتَ شِعرِيَ بَعدَ البابِ ما الدارُ
Death is a door, and everyone shall enter it.
Death is a door, and all people enter it.
Would that I knew: beyond the door, what is the dwelling?
So, if only I knew: what abode lies beyond the door?
الدارُthe abode جَنَّةُa garden خُلدٍeternity إِنif عَمِلتَyou act بِماaccording to what
الدارُ جَنَّةُ خُلدٍ إِن عَمِلتَ بِما
يُرضيpleases الإِلَهَGod وَإِنand if قَصَّرتَyou fall short فَالنارُthen the Fire
يُرضي الإِلَهَ وَإِن قَصَّرتَ فَالنارُ
The dwelling is an everlasting Paradise, if you have lived by what
The abode is an everlasting garden, if you act according to what
pleases God; but if you fall short, then comes the Fire.
pleases God; but if you fall short, then it is the Fire.
