كُلُّevery يَومٍday يَأتيcomes بِرِزقٍwith provision جَديدِnew
كُلُّ يَومٍ يَأتي بِرِزقٍ جَديدِ
مِنfrom مَليكٍa Sovereign لَناfor us غَنِيٍّself-sufficient حَميدِpraiseworthy
مِن مَليكٍ لَنا غَنِيٍّ حَميدِ
Every day brings fresh provision
Each day brings sustenance anew
From our Sovereign, self-sufficient and praiseworthy.
From a King so generous and true
قادِرٌpowerful قاهِرٌall-subduing قَوِيٌّmighty لَطيفٍgentle
قادِرٌ قاهِرٌ قَوِيٌّ لَطيفٍ
ظاهِرٍmanifest باطِنٍhidden قَريبٍnear بَعيدِfar
ظاهِرٍ باطِنٍ قَريبٍ بَعيدِ
Powerful, all-subduing, mighty, gentle;
All-Powerful, All-Conquering, All-Mighty, All-Kind
Manifest, hidden, near, far.
Manifest, Hidden, Near, Far to find
حَجَبَتهُveiled Him الغُيوبُthe unseen عَنfrom كُلِّevery عَينٍeye
حَجَبَتهُ الغُيوبُ عَن كُلِّ عَينٍ
وَهوَand He فيناamong us أَنيسُcompanion كُلِّevery وَحيدِlonely one
وَهوَ فينا أَنيسُ كُلِّ وَحيدِ
The unseen has veiled Him from every eye,
Veiled to all eyes by mysteries
And among us He is the companion of every lonely one.
Yet in us a friend to all in need
حَسبُناsufficient for us اللَهُGod رَبُّناour Lord هُوَHe مَولىًa master
حَسبُنا اللَهُ رَبُّنا هُوَ مَولىً
خَيرُbest مَولىًmaster وَنَحنُand we شَرُّworst عَبيدِservants
خَيرُ مَولىً وَنَحنُ شَرُّ عَبيدِ
God, our Lord, suffices us; He is a master—
God suffices us, Our Lord and Guide
The best of masters, and we the worst of servants.
Best Guide is He, though we are sin personified
خَلَقَcreated الخَلقَcreation لِلفَناءِto perish فَهُمso they بَيbeginning of 'between'
خَلَقَ الخَلقَ لِلفَناءِ فَهُم بَي
نَcompletion of 'between' شَقِيٍّwretched مِنهُمamong them وَبَينَand between سَعيدِhappy
نَ شَقِيٍّ مِنهُم وَبَينَ سَعيدِ
He created all creatures to perish; so they are divided between
He created all for demise, so they dwell
The wretched among them and the happy.
Between misery and bliss propelled
لَيتَif only شِعريmy knowledge وَكَيفَand how حالُكَyour condition ياO نَفbeginning of 'soul'
لَيتَ شِعري وَكَيفَ حالُكَ يا نَف
سُcompletion of 'soul' غَداًtomorrow بَينَbetween سائِقٍa driver وَشَهيدِand a witness
سُ غَداً بَينَ سائِقٍ وَشَهيدِ
If only I knew—how will you fare, O soul,
How I wonder what your state will be, O soul
Tomorrow, between a driver and a witness?
Tomorrow with driver and martyr extolled
كُلُّناall of us صائِرٌbound إِلىto المَلِكِthe King الدَيbeginning of 'the Judge'
كُلُّنا صائِرٌ إِلى المَلِكِ الدَي
يانِcompletion of 'the Judge' رَبِّLord الأَربابِthe lords يَومَday الوَعيدِthe threat of punishment
يانِ رَبِّ الأَربابِ يَومَ الوَعيدِ
All of us are bound for the King, the Judge,
To the Eternal King we all will fare
Lord of lords, on the Day of threatened punishment.
Lord of lords on the day of despair
وَالمَناياand deaths تَأتيcome عَلىupon كُلِّevery شَيءٍthing
وَالمَنايا تَأتي عَلى كُلِّ شَيءٍ
وَالبَلىand decay مُرصَدٌlying in wait لِكُلِّfor every جَديدِnew thing
وَالبَلى مُرصَدٌ لِكُلِّ جَديدِ
And death overtakes everything,
Death comes to all under the sun
And decay lies in wait for all that is new.
And decay is the fate of all begun
