خَفِّض هَداكَ اللَهُ مِن بالِكا

خَفِّض هَداكَ اللَهُ مِن بالِكا

وَاِفرَح بِما قَدَّمتَ مِن مالِكا

وَاِفرَح بِما قَدَّمتَ مِن مالِكا

Ease your cares—may God guide you,

Lower your expectations, may God guide you

And rejoice in what you have sent ahead from your wealth.

And be happy with what you have offered of your money

لاتَأمَنِ الدُنيا عَلى غَدرَةٍ

لاتَأمَنِ الدُنيا عَلى غَدرَةٍ

كَم غَدَرَت قَبلُ بِأَمثالِكا

كَم غَدَرَت قَبلُ بِأَمثالِكا

Do not trust the world to be free of treachery;

Do not trust the world for its betrayal

How often it has betrayed those like you before!

How much it has betrayed the likes of you before

كَم سَتَرى في الناسِ مِن هالِكٍ

كَم سَتَرى في الناسِ مِن هالِكٍ

وَهالِكٍ حَتّى تُرى هالِكا

وَهالِكٍ حَتّى تُرى هالِكا

How many among the people you will see perish,

How many you will see among the people as ruined

One after another, until you too are seen perishing.

And ruined until you see yourself ruined

فَانظُر سَبيلاً سَلَكوهُ وَلا

فَانظُر سَبيلاً سَلَكوهُ وَلا

تَحسَب بِأَن لَستَ لَهُ سالِكا

تَحسَب بِأَن لَستَ لَهُ سالِكا

So consider the path they have traveled, and do not

So look at a path they took and do not

Think that you will not tread it.

Think you will not take it yourself

أَصبَحَتِ الدُنيا لَنا عِبرَةً

أَصبَحَتِ الدُنيا لَنا عِبرَةً

وَالحَمدُ لِلَّهِ عَلى ذَلِكا

وَالحَمدُ لِلَّهِ عَلى ذَلِكا

The world has become a lesson for us,

The world has become for us a lesson

And praise be to God for that.

And praise be to God for that

إِجتَمَعَ الناسُ عَلى ذَمِّها

إِجتَمَعَ الناسُ عَلى ذَمِّها

وَلا أَرى مِنهُم لَها تارِكا

وَلا أَرى مِنهُم لَها تارِكا

People are united in condemning it,

The people have gathered to blame it

Yet I see none among them who forsakes it.

And I do not see among them one who leaves it
