جَزىmay reward اللَهُGod عَنّيon my behalf صالِحاًSalih بِوَفائِهِنfor their faithfulness
جَزى اللَهُ عَنّي صالِحاً بِوَفائِهِن
وَأَضعَفَand multiply أَضعافاًmany times over لَهُfor him فيin جَزائِهِhis reward
وَأَضعَفَ أَضعافاً لَهُ في جَزائِهِ
May God reward Ṣāliḥ on my behalf for his fidelity,
May God reward Salih on my behalf for their faithfulness,
and I shall repay him many times over in return.
And multiply his reward many times over.
بَلَوتُI tested رِجالاًmen بَعدَهُafter him فيin إِخائِهِمtheir friendship

فَما ازدَدتُ إِلّا رَغبَةً في إِخائِهِ
After him, I tested other men by the measure of his friendship,
I tested men after him in their friendship,
yet I only grew more eager for his companionship.
And only grew more eager for his friendship.

A true friend: whenever I came asking him for a favor,
A friend: whenever I came to ask him for something I needed,
I returned with what I sought, my face’s water—my dignity—still intact.
I returned with what I sought, the water of my face intact.
