أَمِنّيfrom me? تَخافُyou fear اِنتِشارَthe spreading of الحَديثِthe tale
أَمِنّي تَخافُ اِنتِشارَ الحَديثِ
وَحَظِّيَand my stake فيin صَونِهِsafeguarding it أَوفَرُgreater
وَحَظِّيَ في صَونِهِ أَوفَرُ
Do you fear the tale will spread through me?
My friend, your secret is safe with me
And my stake in keeping it secret is greater.
Though gossip spreads, I shall not speak
وَلَوand even if لَمnot يَكُنthere were فيهِin it مَعنىًan implication عَلَيكَagainst you
وَلَو لَم يَكُن فيهِ مَعنىً عَلَيكَ
نَظَرتُI would look out لِنَفسيfor myself كَماjust as تَنظُرُyou look out
نَظَرتُ لِنَفسي كَما تَنظُرُ
Even if there were nothing in it against you,
Even if there's no truth that could expose
I would look out for myself, just as you do.
