المَوتُdeath لاnot والِداًa father يُبقيspares وَلاnor وَلَداa child
وَلاnor صَغيراًa young person وَلاnor شَيخاًan old man وَلاnor أَحَداanyone
Death spares neither father nor child,
Death spares no father, nor son
Nor the young, nor the old, nor anyone.
Neither child, nor elder, nor anyone
كانَlived النَبِيُّthe Prophet فَلَمyet did not يَخلُدlive forever لِأُمَّتِهِfor his community
لَوif خَلَّدَmade immortal اللَهُGod حَيّاًa living being قَبلَهُbefore him خَلَداhe would have lived forever
The Prophet lived, yet did not live forever for his community;
The Prophet was, yet did not live forever for his nation
Had God made any living being before him immortal, he too would have lived forever.
Had God granted him eternal life before, he would have lived eternally
لِلمَوتِbelonging to death فيناamong us سِهامٌarrows غَيرُnot مُخطِئَةٍmissing the mark
مَنwhoever فاتَهُmissed him اليَومَtoday سَهمٌan arrow لَمnot يَفُتهُmiss him غَداtomorrow
Death has arrows among us that never miss;
For death, we are but unerring targets
Whoever an arrow misses today, it will not miss tomorrow.
He who escapes its arrow today, will not escape tomorrow
ماnot ضَرَّharmed مَنwhoever عَرَفَknew الدُنياthe world وَغِرَّتَهاand its deceit
أَلّاnot to يُنافِسَcompete with فيهاin it أَهلَهاits people أَبَداever
One who knows the world and its deceit suffers no harm
It harms not he who knows this world and its deception
By never competing in it with its people.
That he never competes with its people ever
