أَيا ذَوي الوَخامَة

أَكثَرتُمُ المَلامَة

Oh censurers abounding in blame!

Ye have censured me past all forbearance and patience.

فَلَيسَ لي عَلى ذا

صَبرٌ وَلا قُلامَة

I have loved a fawn—is the Resurrection come?

Then I will ride among riders renowned for daring.

نَعَم عَشِقتُ موقاً

هَل قامَتِ القِيامَة

لَأَركَبَنَّ فيمَن

هَويتُهُ الصَرامَة
