وَلَمّا اِستَقَلّوا بِأَثقالِهِم

وَلَمّا اِستَقَلّوا بِأَثقالِهِم

وَقَد أَزمَعوا لِلَّذي أَزمَعوا

وَقَد أَزمَعوا لِلَّذي أَزمَعوا

And when they set out with their loads,

When they shouldered their burdens

And had resolved on what they had resolved,

And set off with purpose and resolve

قَرَنتُ اِلتِفافي بِآثارِهِم

قَرَنتُ اِلتِفافي بِآثارِهِم

وَأَتبَعتُهُم مُقلَةً تَدمَعُ

وَأَتبَعتُهُم مُقلَةً تَدمَعُ

I linked my turning gaze to their tracks,

I followed their tracks, pining,

And followed them with a weeping eye.

With eyes filled with tears
