أَلا إِنَّ ظَبياً لِلخَليفَةِ صادَني

أَلا إِنَّ ظَبياً لِلخَليفَةِ صادَني

وَمالِيَ عَن ظَبي الخَليفَةِ مِن عُذرِ

وَمالِيَ عَن ظَبي الخَليفَةِ مِن عُذرِ

Behold, a gazelle belonging to the caliph has indeed caught me.

Indeed, a gazelle belonging to the Caliph confronted me,

And I have no excuse concerning the caliph’s gazelle.

And I have no excuse for evading the Caliph's gazelle.
