لِلمَرءِfor a man يَومٌa day يُحتَمىis shunned قُربُهُits nearness
لِلمَرءِ يَومٌ يُحتَمى قُربُهُ
وَتَظهَرُand emerges الوَحشَةُloneliness مِنfrom أُنسِهِhis companionship
وَتَظهَرُ الوَحشَةُ مِن أُنسِهِ
A man has a day whose approach is shunned,
And loneliness emerges from his companionship.
كَمhow many مِنof صَريعٍa stricken man قَدindeed نَجاescaped سالِماًunharmed
كَم مِن صَريعٍ قَد نَجا سالِماً
وَمِنand of عَروسٍa bridegroom ماتَdied فيat عُرسِهِhis wedding
وَمِن عَروسٍ ماتَ في عُرسِهِ
How many a stricken man has escaped unharmed,
And many a bridegroom has died at his wedding.
