Be patient with an age that has taken its toll on
Be patient with time that has passed
you, for thus have the ages passed:
And it is thus that ages have rolled along
فَرَحٌjoy وَحُزنٌand sorrow مَرَّةًin turn
فَرَحٌ وَحُزنٌ مَرَّةً

لا الحُزنُ دامَ وَلا السُرورُ
Joy and sorrow, each in turn;
Joy and sorrow come in turn
Neither sorrow nor happiness endures.
Neither does sorrow last nor mirth endure
