يا رُبَّ شَهوَةِ ساعَةٍ قَد أَعقَبَت

يا رُبَّ شَهوَةِ ساعَةٍ قَد أَعقَبَت

مَن نالَها حُزناً هُناكَ طَويلا

مَن نالَها حُزناً هُناكَ طَويلا

O how many a desire, indulged for an hour, has left

Oh, many an hour's pleasure has brought

the one who gratified it long sorrow in the Hereafter.

عَظُمَ البَلاءُ بِها عَلَيهِ وَإِنَّما

نالَ المُفَضِّلُ لِلشَقاءِ قَليلا

Through it, affliction upon him grew immense, though

Great was the affliction it brought upon him, though

فَإِذا دَعَتكَ إِلى الخَطيئةِ شَهوَةٌ

فَاِجعَل لِطَرفِكَ في السَماءِ سَبيلا

So when a desire calls you to sin,

وَخَفِ الإِلَهَ فَإِنَّهُ لَكَ ناظِرٌ

وَكَفى بِرَبِّكَ زاجِراً وَسَئولا

وَكَفى بِرَبِّكَ زاجِراً وَسَئولا

And fear God, for He is watching you;

your Lord suffices as deterrent and questioner.

ماذا تَقولُ غَداً إِذا لاقَيتَهُ

بِصَغائِرٍ وَكَبائِرٍ مَسؤولا

What will you say tomorrow when you meet Him,

لا تَركَنَنَّ إِلى الرَجاءِ فَإِنَّهُ

خَدَعَ القُلوبَ وَضَلَّلَ المَعقولا

Never rest your hopes on pardon, for such hope
