And I have a heart that, when torment wears long upon it,
And I have a heart that, when its torment lasts long,
goes mad with yearning to meet the one who torments it.
goes mad with longing to meet its tormentor.

A lovesick lover would ransom you with his very life; if he had
A lovesick man ransoms you with his life; if he had
anything dearer than himself, he would ransom you with it.
anything dearer than his own life, he would ransom you with it.
