لِأَنَّbecause لَهاshe has وَجهاًa face يَدُلُّpoints عَلىto عُذريmy excuse
لِأَنَّ لَها وَجهاً يَدُلُّ عَلى عُذري
And surely I am excused for loving her so long,
I'm excused for loving her so long
For she has a face that bears witness to my excuse.
For she has a face that reveals my excuse

When she appears with the moon on the night of its fullness,
When she appears, and the full moon is out
You see that she plainly surpasses the full moon.
You see she outshines even the moon

بِساحِرَةِ العَينَينِ طَيِّبَةِ النَشرِ
God has willed only that I die of longing
God willed that I die young
For a woman with bewitching eyes and sweet fragrance.
For the sorceress with the beautiful eyes

Pearls hidden in an ocean shell

وَلَستُ بِهِ لَولا السِواكُ بِذي خُبرِ
The tooth-cleaning stick tells me how fragrant her mouth is,
The toothstick tells me of their sweetness
And but for the tooth-cleaning stick, I would know nothing of it.
And I'd know nothing of it sans the toothstick's news
