وَلَقَدand indeed تَنَسَّمتُI breathed in الرِياحَthe winds لِحاجَتيfor my need
فَإِذاand behold لَهاthey have مِنfrom راحَتَيكَyour two palms نَسيمُa breeze
And indeed, I breathed in the winds to meet my need;
I have breathed the winds for my needs,
And lo, their breeze came from your two palms.
Yet from your rest comes a gentle breeze.
أَشَرِبتُI imbued نَفسيmy soul مِنwith رَجائِكَhope in you ماthat which لَهُit has

I filled my soul with hope in you—a hope with
I have quenched my soul with hopes of you,
A swift gait, trotting me toward you, and a racing stride.
My neck yearns towards you, head bowed, appeased.
وَرَميتُand I cast نَحوَtoward سَماءِthe sky of جودِكَyour generosity ناظِريmy gaze
أَرعىI watch مَخايِلَportents بَرقِهِof its lightning وَأَشيمُand I scan for rain
And I cast my gaze toward the sky of your generosity,
I cast my gaze to the sky of your grace,
Watching its lightning’s portents and looking for rain.
Watching for lightning, breathing your scent.
وَلَرُبَّماand often اِستَيأَستُI despaired ثُمَّthen أَقولُI say لاno
إِنَّindeed الَّذيthe one who ضَمِنَguaranteed النَجاحَsuccess كَريمُgenerous
And often I have despaired, then I say: No—
Sometimes I despair but then say: No!
Indeed, the one who guaranteed success is generous.
Success is assured by the Generous One.
