The faults of Adam's son, as far as I know, are many.

And his coming and going are a deception.

O dweller in this world, have you not seen the bloom of the

world—how it changes as the days pass?

Your soul, in love with life, has deceived you.

And death is certain, and life is brief.

Do not exalt this world, for everything that

is in it is small and paltry, if you knew.

    إِن أَنتَ لَم تَقنَع فَأَنتَ فَقيرُ

    Gain whatever wealth you choose to gain;

if you are not content, then you are poor.

O gatherer of abundant wealth for someone else,

indeed, even a small sin is great.

Do your hands hold any power over calamities?

Or have you a guardian against death?

Or what will you say when you depart into decay,

and when Munkar and Nakir are alone with you?
