غَلَبَovercame اليَقينَcertainty عَليَّover me شَكّيmy doubt فيabout الرَدىdeath
غَلَبَ اليَقينَ عَليَّ شَكّي في الرَدى
حَتّىuntil كَأَنّيas though I لاnot أَراهُI see it عِياناwith my own eyes
حَتّى كَأَنّي لا أَراهُ عِيانا
Certainty overcame my doubt concerning death,
My doubt about death overcame certainty in me,
until it was as though I did not see it plainly.
until it was as though I did not see it with my own eyes.
فَعَميتُso I grew blind حَتّىuntil صِرتُI became فيهِregarding it كَأَنَّنيas though I
فَعَميتُ حَتّى صِرتُ فيهِ كَأَنَّني
أُعطيتُI was given مِنfrom رَيبِvicissitudes المَنونِdeath أَماناsafety
أُعطيتُ مِن رَيبِ المَنونِ أَمانا
Then I grew blind, until, in the face of it, I became as though
So I grew blind, until, regarding it, I was as though
I had been granted safety from the perils of death.
I had been granted safety from the vicissitudes of death.
