اللَهُGod يُنجيsaves مِنَfrom المَكروهِharm لاnot حَذَريmy caution
وَكُلُّand all خَيرٍgood وَشَرٍّand evil خُطَّwas inscribed بِالقَدَرِby destiny
God delivers from misfortune—not my caution.
God saves from harm, not my caution.
Every good and evil has been inscribed by fate.
And all good and evil are inscribed by destiny.
قَدmay يَسلَمُbe safe المَرءُa person مِمّاfrom what قَدmay يُحاذِرُهُhe guards against it
وَقَدand may يَصيرُcome إِلىto المَكروهِharm بِالحَذَرِthrough caution
A person may be spared the very thing he fears,
A person may escape what he guards against,
And through caution may come to misfortune.
And may come to harm through caution.
الباطِلُfalsehood المَحضُpure مَعروفٌrecognized بِرُؤيَتِهِby seeing it
وَالحَقُّand truth يُعرَفُis recognized بِالأَمثالِthrough examples وَالعِبَرِand lessons
Sheer falsehood is recognized on sight,
Sheer falsehood is recognized by seeing it.
But truth is known through examples and lessons.
And truth is recognized through examples and lessons.
وَالغَيبُand the unseen يُثبِتُهُestablishes it فيin العَقلِthe mind شاهِدُهُits evidence
وَالعِلمُand knowledge أَجمَعُin its entirety مِنfrom عَينٍdirect observation وَمِنand from أَثَرِa trace
The unseen is established in reason by its witness,
And the unseen is established in the mind by its evidence.
And knowledge is broader than sight or transmitted report.
And all knowledge comes from direct observation and from traces.
