إِنَّماnothing but أَنتَyou رَحمَةٌmercy وَسلامَهand safety
زادَكَmay He grant you more اللَهُGod غِبطَةًhappiness وَكَرامَهand honor
Indeed, you are nothing but mercy and peace.
You are nothing but mercy and safety.
May God increase you in joy and honor.
May God increase your happiness and honor.
قيلَit was said ليto me قَدindeed رَضيتَyou were pleased عَنّيwith me فَمَنso who ليfor me
أَنthat أَرىI see ليfor me عَلىof رِضاكَyour approval عَلَمَهa sign
I was told that you were pleased with me—yet what have I
I was told you are pleased with me; who can help me
that I might see as a sign of your favor?
see a sign of your favor toward me?
وَحَقيقٌand it is fitting أَلّاthat ... not يُراعَhe be frightened بِسوءٍby harm
مَنwhoever رَآكَsaw you اِبتَسَمتَyou smiled مِنهُat him اِبتِسامَهa smile
And surely no harm should frighten
And it is fitting that no harm should frighten
whoever saw you bestow a smile on him.
one who has seen you smile at him.
لَوif تَوَجَّعتَyou felt compassion ليfor me فَرَوَّحتَand so you relieved distress عَنّيfrom me
رَوَّحَmay He relieve distress اللَهُGod عَنكَfrom you يَومَthe Day of القِيامَهthe Resurrection
If only you would feel my pain and bring me relief—
If you took pity on me and brought me relief,
may God bring you relief on the Day of Resurrection.
may God bring you relief on the Day of Resurrection.
