If you treat gently what has grown harsh, it softens.
If you are gentle to one who was harsh, he will become gentle.
And if you ease what has grown difficult, it becomes easy.
And if you are kind to one who was unkind, he will become kind.

أَلا رُبَّما شانَت أُمورٌ وَمازانَت
Many things adorn or mar.
Many matters are adorned or disgraced.
Indeed, things have sometimes marred without adorning.
Yet, affairs once maligned may later be held in high esteem.
وَتَأتيand come وَتَمضيand pass الحادِثاتُevents سَريعَةًswiftly

And events come and go swiftly.
Events come and go quickly.
And how often events have betrayed me, and how often they have been faithless!
How often have events betrayed me, and how often have they let me down!

And requital has a Judge tomorrow, on the day of His judgment.
Religion will have a judge tomorrow on its day of judgment,
People's souls will be requited that day according to how they have acted.
When people's souls will be judged for what they have done.
