O soul, whatever does not endure, forsake it.
O soul, no matter how short life is, so leave it,
And death has a plan for you, so await it.
And death has an opinion about you, so wait for it,
مَضىdeparted مَنwhoever مَضىdeparted مِنّاfrom among us وَحيداًalone بِنَفسِهِby himself
وَنَحنُand we وَشيكاًsoon لاnot نَشُكُّwe doubt نَليهِwe follow him
Whoever among us has gone has gone alone, by himself.
Those who passed before us went alone with themselves,
And we shall soon, without a doubt, follow him.
And we will soon follow, undoubtedly to meet it,
بَنوsons المَرءِthe man يُسليهِمconsoles them عَنِfrom المَرءِthe man بَعدَهُafter him
إِذاwhen ماتَhe dies ماwhat أَسلاهُconsoled him بَعدَafter أَبيهِhis father
A man's sons are consoled for his loss after he is gone,
A man's sons console him after him when he dies,
when he dies, by what consoled him after his father's death.
If he dies, nothing will console him after his father,
رَأَيتُI have seen أَقَلَّthe least الناسِof people هَمّاًin worry أَشَدَّهُمthe strongest among them
قُنوعاًin contentment وَأَرضاهُمand the most satisfied among them بِماwith what هُوَhe فيهِin it
I have found the least worried of people to be the most
I saw the least worried people were the most content,
contented, and most satisfied with their lot.
And the most pleased with what state they are in,
فَطوبىso blessedness لِمَنfor whoever لَمnot يَلقَencounter أَمراًa matter قَضىdecreed لَهُfor him
بِهِconcerning it اللَهُGod إِلّاexcept that سَرَّهُit pleased him وَرَضيهِand he was content with it
So blessed is he who encounters nothing decreed for him
Blessed is he who has not encountered an ordained matter,
by God without rejoicing in it and accepting it.
Except that it pleased him and he was satisfied with it,
وَلاand no خَيرَgood فيin مَنone who ظَلَّkept يَبغيseeking لِنَفسِهِfor himself
مِنَof الخَيرِgood ماwhat لاnot يَبتَغيhe seeks لِأَخيهِfor his brother
And there is no good in one who keeps seeking for himself
And there is no good in one who remains seeking for himself,
any good he does not seek for his brother.
Of good what he does not seek for his brother.
