    Time has turned the blackness of your head white.

    And your body has foretold your death through wasting and shriveling.

    فَكَأَنَّ شَيئاً لَم تَنَلهُ إِذا اِنقَضى

    Attain whatever you wish among the objects of desire;

    For once it has ended, it is as though you never attained it.

    وَكَأَنَّهُ لَم يَأتِ قَطُّ إِذا مَضى

    And when a thing comes, it comes to pass away;

    And once it has passed, it is as though it never came at all.

    We seek wealth from the world, yet it increases our

    Poverty; and we seek to be healthy, yet fall ill.

    His servant will never be sincere in his love for God

    Unless his love and hatred are for His sake and come from Him.

    And the soul seeks deliverance, yet it has no

    Escape until it reaches contentment.
