Praise be to God; everything passes away and decays.

Nothing in this world remains in the same state.

O you who desire what brings no reward,

You seek reward? Then be a bearer of heavy burdens.

There is no good in wealth unless you send it ahead.

If you do not send it ahead, what do you hope for from wealth?

Indeed, by the Judge of Judgment Day, never has there risen

A sun, nor has it set, save for appointed ends.

Everyone dies, and yet we are at play,

And death is veiled from us by hopes.
