1. مَن سالَمَ الناسَ سَلِم

    مَن شاتَمَ الناسَ شُتِم

    Whoever makes peace with people remains safe.

    Whoever trades insults with people is insulted.

  2. مَن ظَلَمَ الناسَ أَسا

    مَن رَحِمَ الناسَ رُحِم

    Whoever wrongs people does evil.

    Whoever shows mercy to people is shown mercy.

  3. مَن طَلَبَ الفَضلَ إِلى

    غَيرِ ذَوي الفَضلِ حُرِم

    Whoever seeks bounty from

    anyone but the generous is deprived.

  4. مَن حَفِظَ العَهدَ وَفى

    مَن أَحسَنَ السَمعَ فَهِم

    Whoever keeps a pledge keeps faith.

    Whoever listens well understands.

  5. مَن صَدَقَ اللَهَ عَلا

    مَن طَلَبَ العِلمَ عَلِم

    Whoever is true to God rises high.

    Whoever seeks knowledge learns.

  6. مَن خالَفَ الرُشدَ غَوى

    مَن تَبِعَ الغَيَّ نَدِم

    Whoever opposes right guidance goes astray.

    Whoever follows error regrets it.

  7. مَن لَزِمَ الصَمتَ نَجا

    مَن قالَ بِالخَيرِ غَنِم

    Whoever keeps to silence is saved.

    Whoever speaks what is good gains.

  8. مَن عَفَّ وَاِكتَفَّ زَكا

    مَن جَحَدَ الحَقَّ أَثِم

    Whoever is chaste and content becomes pure.

    Whoever denies the truth sins.

  9. مَن مَسَّهُ الضُرُّ شَكا

    مَن عَضَّهُ الدَهرُ أَلِم

    Whoever is touched by harm complains.

    Whoever is bitten by time suffers pain.

  10. لَم يَعدُ حَيٍّ رِزقُهُ

    رِزقُ اِمرِئً حَيثُ قُسِم

    No living being's sustenance passes him by.

    A person's sustenance lies where it was allotted.
