مِن بَينِ رائِحَةِ تَمُرُّ وَغادِيَه
Indeed, calamities will inevitably come,
The events will inevitably come
some passing in the evening, others arriving in the morning.
Between the fragrance of dates and one departing
فَلَرُبَّماfor, indeed, often اِعتَبَطَdied without prior illness السَليمُthe healthy person فُجاءَةًsuddenly

وَلَرُبَّما رُزِقَ السَقيمُ العافِيَه
For often a healthy person dies suddenly,
Sometimes the healthy will suddenly fall ill
and often a sick person is granted health.
And sometimes the sick will be granted good health

God knows what our hearts conceal,
God knows what our hearts conceal
and no secret is hidden from God.
And nothing is hidden from God

Where are those who hoarded treasures and cherished hopes?
Where are those who hoarded treasures and hoped
Where are the generations, sons of bygone generations?
Where are the generations, sons of past generations

They passed away, so the dwellings, bereft of them, became
They have gone and their dwellings became
desolate, and the cities became empty.
Desolate and their cities empty
عَجَباًhow astonishing! لِمَنat one who يَنسىforgets المَقابِرَthe graveyards وَالبِلىand decay
عَجَباً لِمَن يَنسى المَقابِرَ وَالبِلى
سُبحانَglory be to مَنthe One who يُحيّbrings to life العِظامَthe bones البالِيَهdecayed
سُبحانَ مَن يُحيّ العِظامَ البالِيَه
How astonishing that anyone should forget the graveyards and decay!
How strange is one who forgets the graves and decay
Glory be to Him who brings decayed bones to life!
Glory to He who gives life to withered bones
