أيابُreturn الإمامِof the Imam حياةُlife of الأممthe nations
أيابُ الإمامِ حياةُ الأمم
توالىcame in succession السرورُjoy بهِthrough him وانتظمand fell into order
توالى السرورُ بهِ وانتظم
The Imam's return is the life of nations.
The return of the Imam is the life of nations
Through him, joy came in succession and harmony.
Happiness continues with him in order
وجادَand watered generously بهthrough him الأرضَthe earth صوبُthe downpour of الحياlife-giving rain
وجادَ به الأرضَ صوبُ الحيا
وجلىand dispelled الظلامَthe darkness بهthrough him بدرُa full moon تمfullness
وجلى الظلامَ به بدرُ تم
And through him, a downpour of life-giving rain watered the earth.
And the earth yielded to him on the path of life
And through him, a moon in its fullness dispelled the darkness.
And his bright full moon dispelled the darkness
فكشراًso thanks (apparently intended as فشكراً) لخيلٍto horses وفلكٍand ships دنتdrew near
فكشراً لخيلٍ وفلكٍ دنت
بمستأصلِwith the uprooter of الظلمِinjustice ماحيthe dispeller of الظُّلَمdarkness
بمستأصلِ الظلمِ ماحي الظُّلَم
So thanks to the horses and ships that drew near,
So horses neighed and stars drew near
With the uprooter of injustice, the dispeller of darkness.
To the uprooter of injustice, eraser of darkness
إذاwhenever حلَّhe settles فيin بلدةٍa town أمرعتit grows lush
إذا حلَّ في بلدةٍ أمرعت
فطابَso grows sweet جناهاits fruit وفاحَand wafts المشمthe fragrance
فطابَ جناها وفاحَ المشم
Whenever he settles in a town, it grows lush,
Whenever he settles in a country
So its fruit grows sweet, and its fragrance spreads.
Its wings become pleasant and its breeze fragrant
وقامَand stands بأقطارِهاthroughout its regions عدلُهُhis justice
وقامَ بأقطارِها عدلُهُ
وصوبُand the downpour of نداهُhis bounty مقامَin place of الديمsteady rains
وصوبُ نداهُ مقامَ الديم
And throughout its regions, his justice stands,
And his justice is established in its regions
Along with his bounty's downpour, in place of steady rains.
And the cry of his call fills the abode of permanence
إذاwhenever الخطبُcalamity جَيشَmusters troops نحوَtoward الورىhumankind
إذا الخطبُ جَيشَ نحوَ الورى
تصدىconfronts لهagainst it عزمُهُhis resolve فانهزمso it is routed
تصدى له عزمُهُ فانهزم
Whenever calamity marshals its forces against humankind,
If calamities march towards the earth
His resolve confronts it, and it is routed.
His determination confronts and defeats them
سلِask الدهرَTime عنabout بطشهِhis fierce assault بالعداagainst the foes
سلِ الدهرَ عن بطشهِ بالعدا
تُجِبwill answer منfrom وراءِbeyond الدرُوبِthe passes العجمthe non-Arabs
تُجِب من وراءِ الدرُوبِ العجم
Ask Time about his fierce assault against the foes;
Ask time about his might against enemies
From beyond the passes, the non-Arabs will answer.
It will answer, beyond the foreign lands
فتوحٌconquests عظامٌmighty حباهاbestowed them الزمانُTime
فتوحٌ عظامٌ حباها الزمانُ
لذيupon one possessing هممٍlofty aspirations دُونَهُنَّbeneath them الهِمَمother aspirations
لذي هممٍ دُونَهُنَّ الهِمَم
Mighty conquests bestowed by Time
Great conquests has time granted
Upon one whose aspirations rise above all others.
To one whose ambitions surpass ambitions
نصحتكمI have counseled you ياO ملوكkings of الزمانِthe age
نصحتكم يا ملوك الزمانِ
نصيحةَthe counsel of منone who ليسis not بالمتهمunder suspicion
نصيحةَ من ليس بالمتهم
I have counseled you, O kings of the age,
I advise you, O kings of time
With the counsel of one beyond suspicion:
With advice from one who is not suspect
أنيبواturn back إليهto him ولوand seek (part of split ولوذوا) ذواrefuge (part of split ولوذوا) بهِin him
أنيبوا إليه ولو ذوا بهِ
تفوزواyou will prosper وألقواand offer إليهِto him السلَمsubmission
تفوزوا وألقوا إليهِ السلَم
Turn to him and seek refuge in him;
Return to him though you dislike him
You will prosper; offer him submission.
You will succeed and make peace with him
