إني لأعجب من خساسةِ عقلِهِ

نسيَ الذنوبَ فخانَهُ الغُفرانُ

Indeed, I marvel at the baseness of his mind.

I am amazed at the baseness of his mind,

He forgot his sins, so forgiveness betrayed him.

He forgot his sins, so forgiveness has abandoned him.

وغدا على مشروعةٍ رهنَ الردى

وغدا على مشروعةٍ رهنَ الردى

فالجوُّ قبرٌ والهوا أكفانُ

فالجوُّ قبرٌ والهوا أكفانُ

And upon a raised stake he became a hostage to death.

And he rose to forbidden pleasures, hostage to ruin,

So the sky is a grave, and the air is shrouds.

So the atmosphere is a grave and desire is a shroud.
