قد أصليت نارها العداةُ

The foes have indeed been made to burn in its fire,

And the promises concerning them have been fulfilled.

وعمهم بالدمار يومٌ

And a day overwhelmed them with destruction,

Which narrators fall short of describing,

في مشهدٍ لا تزالُ تُتلى

آياتُهُ وهي بيناتُ

In a scene where there is no end to reciting

Its signs, which are manifest.

فتحٌ مفاتيحُهُ المواضِي

والعزَمَاتُ المؤيَّداتُ

A victory whose keys are keen swords

And strengthened resolves.

Though they were valiant, unyielding men.

وغرَّقت جمعهم بحارٌ

أمواجها الخيلُ والكُماةُ

And seas drowned their host,

Their waves were horses and armored warriors.

رأوا لحزبِ الإلهِ صبراً

والمَوتُ حُفَّت بِهِ الجهاتُ

والمَوتُ حُفَّت بِهِ الجهاتُ

They saw steadfastness in God's host,

While every side was ringed with death.

فحاولوا منهمُ انفلاتاً

فحاولوا منهمُ انفلاتاً

وليسَ للحائِنِ انفلاتُ

وليسَ للحائِنِ انفلاتُ

So they tried to escape from them,

But for the doomed there is no escape.

فلا تسل عن بناتِ ماءٍ

فلا تسل عن بناتِ ماءٍ

إن صَرصَرَت حَولَها البُزَاةُ

إن صَرصَرَت حَولَها البُزَاةُ

So ask not about water's daughters,

If the hawks screech around them.
