إِذا اِصطَبَحتُ أَربَعاً عَرَفتَني

إِذا اِصطَبَحتُ أَربَعاً عَرَفتَني

ثُمَّ تَجَشَّمتُ الَّذي جَشَّمتَني

ثُمَّ تَجَشَّمتُ الَّذي جَشَّمتَني

If I drink four cups at dawn, you will know me;

When I drink four cups in the morning, you will know me.

When I became four you knew me,

then I brave whatever hardship you lay upon me.

Then I shoulder the burden you have laid on me.

Then I endured that which you forced me to endure.
