بَداappeared فيin سَماءِthe sky of الحُسنِbeauty خالٌa beauty mark بِوَجهِهِon his face
بَدا في سَماءِ الحُسنِ خالٌ بِوَجهِهِ
يَلوحُgleams بِأُفقِon the horizon of الخَدِّthe cheek كَالكَوكَبِlike the star الدُرِّيpearl-bright
يَلوحُ بِأُفقِ الخَدِّ كَالكَوكَبِ الدُرِّي
A beauty mark appeared on his face in beauty's sky,
Gleaming on the cheek's horizon like a pearl-bright star.
أَضاءَتshone عَلَيهِupon it طُرّةُthe forelock of الصُبحِmorning فَاِختَفىand so disappeared
أَضاءَت عَلَيهِ طُرّةُ الصُبحِ فَاِختَفى
بِهاbecause of it الكَوكَبُthe star الوَضّاحُbrilliant فيin غُرّةِthe bright brow of الفَجرِdawn
بِها الكَوكَبُ الوَضّاحُ في غُرّةِ الفَجرِ
Morning's forelock shone upon it; then vanished
In its radiance the brilliant star in dawn's bright brow.
