Since then I have forsaken learning, having seen
Since then I have abandoned knowledge, for my eyes have seen
With my own eyes what minds are powerless to comprehend.
What minds are incapable of comprehending.
فانso if يكis العلمlearning هذاthis فالجهولthen the ignorant man اذنthen
فان يك العلم هذا فالجهول اذن
تحلوis pleasing علىin كلevery حالcircumstance بينناamong us صفتهhis character
تحلو على كل حال بيننا صفته
If this is learning, then the ignorant man's
If this is knowledge, then ignorance between us
Character is pleasing among us in any case.
Has a sweetness in any case as its quality.
تاللهby God ماnot العلمlearning مماamong what يشتهيهhe desires it فتىًa young man
تالله ما العلم مما يشتهيه فتىً
اذاwhen استحالbecomes impossible علىfor طلابهits seekers ثقتهtrust in it
اذا استحال على طلابه ثقته
By God, learning is not something a young man desires
By God, knowledge is not what a young man desires
When trust in it becomes impossible for its seekers.
If it becomes impossible for its seekers to attain it.
