ما حاكه قول ذي عذل وذي حسد
By God, what has passed through my mind
By God, what roams in my mind
was not woven by the words of a reproacher and an envier.
Is not spun by jealous or envious tongues

بنات فكرك ان الزعم لم يفد
Nor did it come from delusion, as claimed
Nor is it, as you claimed, fanciful illusion
by the daughters of your thought; indeed, the claim was of no avail.
Your suppositions, my dear, are futile

يد الهواجس يا من وده كبدي
And indeed, I fear your love may be torn apart
And your affection, I fear, will be torn apart
by the hand of misgivings, O you whose love is my liver.
By worries, O you who afflicts my heart
