Sorrow enough that I call upon You unceasingly,
It is sorrow enough that I call to you unceasingly,
Enough sorrow that I call you constantly
as though I were far away, or You were absent.
As though I were far away, or you were absent.
As if I were far or as if you were absent

And I ask You for grace, though without desire—
And I ask you for bounty without desire,
And I ask favor from you without desire
for I have never seen my like: abstinent, yet yearning.
For I have not seen anyone like me—an ascetic, yet desirous.
For I have not seen one ascetic yet desirous
